Skip it if

You want a fully managed experience on the self-hosted path; running Umami yourself means operating your own Postgres database and Docker host, with managed support limited to Umami Cloud.

Watch out

Self-hosting requires PostgreSQL v12.14+ and Node.js 18.18+ and a reverse proxy, and a self-hosted analytics subdomain has been flagged by Google Safebrowsing in at least one report. Manage Umami support is community via Discord.

"I recently removed Google Analytics from my websites and set up the self-hosted umami (https://umami.is/) analytics. One of the best things about it is how fast it opens, while GA is so laggy."

"I'm also using, for the analytics, Umami on a free Heroku instance and it's very useful to ditch Google analytics, since now it's also illegal in EU."
