Use it if

People who want a bot-free, local-first Granola alternative: Meetily captures live meeting audio (Whisper or NVIDIA Parakeet transcription), generates an AI summary, and keeps processing on-device rather than sending audio to a cloud vendor. Desktop installers ship for macOS and Windows out of the box; the maintainer, Zackriya Solutions, is a real AI automation agency (Bangalore, founded 2020), not a solo weekend project.

Skip it if

You want a one-command Docker or self-hosted server deployment: the old FastAPI + Docker Compose backend is explicitly marked legacy in backend/README.md ('retained only for historical reference and legacy migration context... unsupported'). You also need Linux with a prebuilt binary: Linux has no packaged release, build-from-source only via docs/building_in_linux.md.

Watch out

The free MIT Community edition is a genuinely different codebase from the paid Pro ($10/user/month, $120/year annual) and Enterprise tiers sold at meetily.ai, not a crippled trial of the same code. Do not follow older blog posts or Docker-compose instructions written before the v0.4.0 rewrite: the architecture moved from a separate FastAPI backend + frontend to a single self-contained Tauri desktop app, and the Docker self-hosting path from the old architecture is now dead.

Some quotes here endorse the approach rather than report first-hand use, or report a problem. We label those.

"I've been using Meetily for a bit and honestly the whole 'no cloud, no nonsense' approach is what got me hooked."

"I have lots of meetings while at work. I'd like to have meetily be in "work mode", and while in "work mode" it should save all transcripts and summaries as markdown files in a single folder"

"I was looking to do the same, so just built this: https://github.com/dino-rodriguez/meetily-exporter"

"Meetily is nice but setup feels too convoluted, with a backend and frontend being required to separately install..."

"When a user selects Whisper as the transcription provider and downloads a Whisper model (e.g. large-v3-turbo), clicking Start Recording still shows: 'Transcription model not ready -- Please download a transcription model before recording.'"
